My approach
I combine over 12 years of experience in structural engineering with effective organization consulting.
Project success happens when roles, responsibilities and processes are clearly defined.
In many projects, I’ve seen that the real issue isn’t technical quality – but the organizational setup.
Laura Babut
Structural Engineer & Organizational Strategy Consultant
I focus on international project teams and well-structured project organizations—especially in collaboration with international partners and on transformation projects within engineering firms.
I design organizational structures that support people in their daily project work instead of adding unnecessary complexity.

My mission in the transformation of structural engineering
My mission is to design organizations at the intersection of structural engineering, culture, and project organization so that international and hybrid teams can work together successfully, even in complex projects.
I place particular importance on building know-how and strengthening the motivation of everyone involved in a project.
From my perspective, sustainable project success depends on clear project organization, strong know-how, motivated teams, and solid technical understanding.

Insights from practice
International engineers typically bring a high level of professional expertise.
However, what is often lacking is a clear understanding of workflows in German project organizations—especially with regard to roles, coordination, and decision-making processes.
Integration usually takes place during the ongoing project—under intense time pressure and tight deadlines. This often leads to increased complexity, misunderstandings, duplication of effort, and unnecessary costs
Project managers often work at their limits. Without structured support, motivation and resilience decline—and with them, the quality of results.
Due to the shortage of skilled engineers, managers are often heavily involved in technical project work, leaving them with little time for strategic development.
This is exactly where my strategic organizational consulting comes in — I have developed a clear approach to address this.
Structural Entry Germany
Structural Entry Germany is a practical approach to the structured integration of international structural engineers into German project organizations.
The goal is not only to equip new team members with the necessary technical expertise, but also to integrate them securely into existing project structures from an organizational perspective.
This results in a professional onboarding process that does not place an additional burden on key people in the project, but instead relieves them.
The approach aims to enable engineers to work more independently and reduce coordination effort in day-to-day project work.

My professional background
Practice and experience
I am a structural engineer with over 12 years of experience in the design and delivery of complex construction projects in Germany, covering both new builds and existing structures.
My areas of expertise include structural design of concrete and masonry structures, with a strong focus on existing buildings, as well as project organization and coordination.
International project work
A key focus of my work has been collaborating with international project teams. Through this experience, I have seen how strongly culture, along with role clarity and quality standards, influences project success.
In this context, I have intensively studied the outsourcing of planning services in structural engineering.
Both in the context of my master’s thesis at the Technical University of Munich and in practice—particularly in the management of international hybrid teams.
Strategic focus today
Over time, my focus has shifted from purely technical project work toward the strategic development of sustainable, high-performing project organizations.
Today, I combine strong structural engineering expertise with a deep understanding of processes, organizational structures, and international project environments.
